Conservatory Heating

There are many different ways to heat a conservatory. At DIY Conservatory Quote we can advise you of these in the initial design stages of your conservatory build make sure that you get the most from your conservatory. If you let our design consultants know what you will be using the conservatory for their advice will be invaluable in your conservatory selection.

The Eco-friendly way to heat your Conservatory

Is to make sure that you have selected the highest quality components with the best insulating properties. What do we mean? Well check the specification of the materials that you have been quoted for against each other. Buying a cheap lower specification conservatory may seem like a good idea but with years of use ahead of you quality of the finished conservatory is paramount. But what about the specification? Sure we can give you a lower price but at what cost? Our roof thickness is 25mm please check if you are considering buying cheaper. We know that one of the most popular high street Diy Stores supply a measly 16mm thick roof. Our 25mm polycarbonate Roof has a U value of 1.4u if you consider that the lower the number the better a household brick only has a U value of 1.0 This means you get better insulation and low heat loss in winter months meaning cheaper heating bills.

Heat loss Properties

Pilkington K Glass is another great way to heat your conservatory. It allows passive solar gain by letting the suns warming rays to pass into you conservatory but then reflects the absorbed heat back into the room. See our article on Pilkington K glass for more information at Pilkington K Glass

Standard Convection heating for conservatories

Can be achieved by fitting radiators in your conservatory or by fitting electric storage heaters. This is probably the cheapest way to heat your conservatory. Coupled with using timers you take advantage of cheaper over night electricity so that your conservatory has the chill taken off of it so that you can enjoy reading the Sunday papers or having your breakfast in it. We would always recommend that you fit with K glass to ensure maximum insulation.

Under floor heating for Conservatories

Under floor heating for conservatories is a great way to heat your conservatory without losing any of the floor space. Great for smaller conservatories. These consist of a matting system that is laid under the flooring and then wired in to the main house. With the use of a timer and a control unit these under floor systems take away the pain of controlling the heat in the conservatory. These electric systems are quick and easy to install. There is also an option to have a hot water based under floor heating system but we recommend that you check with a specialist company to make sure that your boiler has enough capacity to cope with the additional loading.

Conservatory Climate Control Units

These Units heat and cool your conservatory. If you are going to purchase a conservatory climate control unit please make sure that it is for the UK market. There have been a lot of horror stories where imported cheaper models had an automatic frost stat. So during the winter months the so called climate control unit sensed that there was a frost and then decided to defrost itself by automatically switching to reverse and sucking the nice warm air out of the conservatory to defrost itself. We only sell high quality climate control units by Comfy air that are made for the UK market and have top branded internal compressor units. Take a look at our accessories page Climate Control Units for our full range of free standing and wall mounted climate control units.

Conservatory Climate Control Units

Split climate control units are the next generation of climate control or air conditioning units for conservatories. Unlike the through the wall units these can be retro fitted. With only a small two inch hole required to pass the joining duct through these are the easiest units of all the conservatory air conditioning units to fit. With the compressor mounted outside and the main cooling unit inside the power comes from a single phase 240v plug. This really is the plug and go climate control unit.
